Fujifilm X100vi the ultimate travel camera? | A week of street photography in New York
So I just got back from a trip to New York earlier this month with my girlfriend. I had been to NYC previously a couple of years ago but it was before I was really into photography. This time around I had the chance to shoot around the city.
New York is a city I’d been meaning to visit and shoot in for years. It's one of the spiritual homes of street photography and is home to some of the past legends like Saul Leiter and Ernst Haas.
I can safely say that NY lived up to my expectations, compared to London there is a lot more colour and textures around, also it's a bit grander in scale too so it's easier to switch up my shooting styles.
For the trip I mostly used my X100VI for both photo and video. I did initially plan to use my X-T5 but having to constantly attach and remove an ND filter for video in the freezing cold got tiring real quick, so I opted for the X100VI.
I have to say, I wish all Fujifilm cameras had an internal ND, I know the main reason Fuji are able to do this with the X100 is because its a fixed lens camera but it really makes shooting video and photos on the same camera very easy, especially during the day in bright sunny conditions.
As time goes on I just find myself using the X100VI more and more, even while traveling too. The size and weight, along with the 40mp sensor inside means there is little to no compromise using the X100vi over the XT5 - especially in a city like NYC which is perfectly suited to its 23mm focal length.
